Suck it up, fix it, or quit

If you're constantly overworked then you have three options.

Overworked? Decide what to do next.

  • Suck it up. If you’re convinced that your workload will soon return to normal, then this could be the right choice. Tough it out a little longer, then relax. Beware: if you do this for too long you’ll burn out.
  • Fix it. You can ease your workload by delegating, or by giving it back to your boss. Both options need some preparation, but both are worth a shot.
  • Quit. If you can’t suck it up any longer, and if no-one will help you fix it, then this is your only other option. Don’t be afraid to take it: you won’t help yourself, your team, or anyone else in your life by burning out. Find a role bit a better workload somewhere else.
